Helen Smith is a highly skilled jeweller based in Suffolk, with over 30 years of experience in the craft.

She studied at the prestigious Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, where she developed a deep foundation in jewellery design and metalworking techniques.

Over the years, Helen has become particularly known for her expertise in Mokume Gane, an ancient Japanese metalworking technique that involves layering different metals to create unique and permanent patterns.

In addition to Mokume Gane, Helen is also highly skilled in the art of enamelling, using vibrant colours, and subtle gradients to enhance her designs.

Her work is characterized by an exceptional attention to detail and a keen interest in surface patterns and textures. Helen draws inspiration from both natural and man-made forms, exploring the interplay of light, texture, and form in her jewellery. This passion for surface treatment informs her designs, resulting in pieces that are not only visually striking but also tactile and a joy to wear.

Helen’s work can be purchased through Suffolk Craft Society exhibitions and a few other select outlets. If you have any questions please do get in touch.
